FULL SWEETFACE INSERT
Evnroll introduced a new face insert in their Neo Classic putter line earlier this year.
It was milled from 6061 aluminium, which is the same premium kind of aluminium they make planes from. Affixed to the rear of the insert was a polymer backing plate.
The insert performed beautifully for Evnroll. It provided an incredibly solid yet soft feel and because it was made from lightweight aluminium, it freed up discretionary weight that was repurposed in far more beneficial areas of the putter head.
The grooves on the new insert were also the Sweetface kind, which is Evnroll’s proprietary face groove technology.
Explaining Sweetface is simple. It’s like having one giant sweetspot across the entire length of the face. How it works is also ingeniously simple.
The Sweetface grooves are wider in the centre then become progressively narrower towards the heel and toe areas.
The wider groove in the centre imparts less energy to the ball at impart, resulting in a slower ball speed. Meanwhile, the narrower grooves impart more energy to the ball, increasing ball speed. Add it all together and you have a consistent ball speed across the entire width of the putter face.
You’re probably wondering how this is all relevant to the Carlsbad range. Well, Evnroll are using this same premium insert in the Carlsbad range.
