Putter behemoth Odyssey are the latest to jump on the zero torque juggernaut with an expansion of their lauded Ai-ONE putter range.

The new Ai-ONE Square 2 Square line features three of Odyssey most popular head shapes, each configured for torque-free performance.

WHY TORQUE FREE IS SO HOT RIGHT NOW

If you’re oblivious to the torque free revolution sweeping across the putter category, let’s get you up to speed.

Torque-free putters, also known as zero torque or toe-up putters, are uniquely balanced. Where toe-hang putters point to the ground and face-balanced putters point to the sky, a zero torque putter will naturally balance in the toe-up position.

That means the face of a torque free putter stays square to the path throughout the stroke and should return the putter perfectly square at impact.

ZERO TORQUE IN THE ODYSSEY SQUARE 2 SQUARE

The centre shafted hosel that appears on all three Odyssey Ai-ONE Square 2 Square models is the magic dust responsible for zero torque performance.

Set well behind the putter face, the hosel matched the shaft with the centre of mass of the putter head. This unique alignment allows the putter to naturally rest in the toe-up position and resist the face opening and closing during a putting stroke.

ODYSSEY Ai-ONE SQUARE 2 SQUARE MODELS

There are three Odyssey Ai-ONE Square 2 Square putters: two mallets and one wide blade putter. The putters feature the same Odyssey Stroke Lab shaft, which has been installed with 3.3° of forward shaft lean, a feature that will help players preset their hands at address to avoid the common mistake  of opening the face when performing a forward press.

The classic Double Wide blade is an essential in every Odyssey line-up. A beefed up blade with heel-toe weighting, the Double Wide should be a popular choice in its stroke balanced guise.

ODYSSEY Ai-ONE SQUARE 2 SQUARE JAILBIRD

The Jailbird appeared in the Cruiser line of the original Ai-ONE release but is reborn in a zero torque Square 2 Square format. The Jailbird has surged in popularity to be one of Odyssey’s most popular mallets and will no doubt will receive a similar reception in a zero torque configuration.

ODYSSEY Ai-ONE SQUARE 2 SQUARE #7

The foundational fang design is back! The #7 is a large profile mallet, which was also appeared in the first Ai-ONE release. The Square 2 Square version is configured for no-sweat, back-and-through performance.

THE Ai-ONE INSERT

The new Ai-ONE Square 2 Square putters boast Odyssey’s industry-leading, A.I.-designed face insert, which normalises speed off the face.

The White Hot synthetic insert features A.I. designed architecture on its rearside and represents the engine room of the Odyssey Ai-ONE range. Odyssey developed the insert to standardise speed across the entire width of the putter face, which should help golfers hole more putts and decrease three-putt frequency.
