Lucas Herbert What's In The Bag? (2025)

Australia’s Lucas Herbert plays with power, precision and a level of passion that makes him an integral member of Cam Smith’s all-Aussie Ripper GC squad.

The Victorian joined Ripper GC in 2024 following a stint on both the DP World and PGA Tours where he won four tournaments: the Dubai Desert Classic in 2020, the Irish Open and Butterfield Bermuda Championship in 2021, and the ISPS Handa Championship Japan in 2023.

After claiming the NSW Open in late 2024, he began 2025 in fine form for Ripper GC on the LIV Golf Tour. He posted three top five finishes, including a runner-up at LIV Mexico where he stormed home with a 10-under 61 in the final round. His current caddie, Nick Pugh, is also one of the most identifiable loopers in the game thanks to his iconic white beard.

TITLEIST GT3 (9°)

After playing TaylorMade drivers for his entire career, Lucas Herbert switched to a Titleist GT3 driver at the start of 2025.

The GT3 driver features a slippery aerodynamic shape that results in higher club head speeds while its Speed Ring VFT face design tightens up dispersion and minimises ball speed loss when Herbie hits it off-centre. The GT3’s lightweight thermoform crown optimises launch and distance by positioning mass to more beneficial areas of the head.

An adjustable weight track also appears on the GT3, which Lucas can play around with to create a fade or draw bias to his liking.

Lucas’ Titleist GT3 driver is installed with a Fujikura Ventus Black 6 X shaft.

PING G440 MAX (3W: 13.5°, 5W: 18°)

Lucas carries a pair of PING G440 fairway woods in his bag that offer a mix of distance and forgiveness.

His three and five woods are PING G440 MAX fairways. They feature a CarbonFly Wrap crown that permits additional mass to be allocated deep in the head to produce a high-launching ball flight. Meanwhile, the G440 Max’s large rear sole weight increases stability and provides Lucas with plenty of forgiveness off the tee or from the fairway.

SRIXON ZXi7 (4-9), TAYLORMADE P790 (2)

Srixon ZXi7 irons are the perfect match for an elite ball striker like Lucas Herbert.

Srixon ZXi7 irons are compact, forged player’s irons that feature a thin topline and narrow sole. They offer a pure feel and excellent feedback and their tour-bred design gives Lucas the ability to shape and flight his irons with precision.

Additional mass is positioned directly behind the sweet spot of Srixon ZXi7 irons, offering extra speed and a superb feel from pure strikes — ably assisted by Srixon’s PureFrame design, which diminishes vibration.

ZXi7 irons are also equipped with a progressive groove pattern on the face. The long irons feature wider and shallower grooves to maximise distance while the short irons are installed with deeper and narrower grooves to elevate control and spin consistency.

Depending on the conditions, Lucas also plays a TaylorMade P790 two iron. Featuring a hollow-bodied chassis and internal tungsten weighting, the TaylorMade P790 is an extremely fast and forgiving long iron and offer Lucas a high-launching trajectory. Lucas often uses it off the tee when conditions are firm and fast.

TITLEIST VOKEY SM10 (46°, 50°, 56°, 60°)

Lucas’ power game off the tee is matched by a deft touch around the greens, which is where his suite of Titleist Vokey SM10 wedges come into play.

Vokey SM10 wedges provide Lucas with precise flighting control, a pure feel and superb stopping power — particularly out of the rough — via a progressive centre of gravity and spin milled grooves.

Titleist Vokey SM10 wedges feature six grind options (T,M,S,D,F,K). Lucas plays the all-purpose F grind in his 46° and 50° wedges, a mid-bounce M grind in his 56° and a low bounce T grind in his 60° SM10 wedge.

SCOTTY CAMERON GOLO DB5

A Scotty Cameron GoLo DB5 is Lucas Herbert’s choice of flatstick and the mallet has been performing rather well of late. It’s a multi-material mallet, with a milled 303 steel chassis connected to a lightweight aluminium face and sole plate.

The putter also features heel and toe sole weights to enhance stability while a team of five vibration dampers enhance feel and sound. A double bend shaft makes Lucas’ Scotty Cameron DB5 face-balanced, which generally matches well with a straight-back-and-through putting strokes.

2024 TAYLORMADE TP5

Lucas plays TaylorMade's TP5 golf ball. It’s a five-layer tour model that features a lower compression and softer feel than the firmer TaylorMade TP5x ball. It produces less driver spin than the TP5x, offering Lucas a low, penetrating trajectory off the tee, but generates more spin than the TP5x around the greens, which help Lucas stop his approach shots quickly on the greens.
