Golfers are used to customising their woods and irons to improve performance. But the putter, the most used club in the bag? Not so much.
Mizuno’s new M.Craft X putter range aims to change that. It features a modular design and interchangeable components that should make it simple for golfers to customise a putter that matches their stroke and fits their eye.
Here’s how it works.
M.Craft X putters are built around two main modules: a face and neck made from soft, forged 1025 stainless steel, and a rear section made from milled aluminium.
There are three different face/neck options: a plumber’s, spud and double bend neck. The options for the rear section consist of a squareback mallet, a mid-sized rounded mallet, and a large, winged mallet. All components are interchangeable, which translates into nine possible M.Craft X putter combinations.
In a clever piece of engineering, the face and rear sections are screwed together by the heel and toe sole weights. The sole weights are also interchangeable, which expands customisation significantly. Additinoal Mizuno M.Craft weights are available in 7g, 14g and 21g options and are sold separately.
To kick things off, Mizuno offer the new M.Craft X putter in three fully assembled configurations.
Square mallet with a plumber’s neck
Rounded mallet with a spud neck
Winged mallet with a double bend shaft
Mizuno have assigned each face component with a lettering system, while the aluminium back receives a number.
The P face is the plumber’s neck; the S is the slant neck and the B is the double bend shaft. The 4 is the squareback mallet, the 5 is the rounded mallet and the 6 is the winged mallet.
Components can be purchased separately.
Mizuno M.Craft X putters will be launched at GolfBox on March 7, 2025. They will be available for Pre-sale on February 7, 2025.
