The Odyssey Microhinge face insert is back!

After being shuttered for a short period, Odyssey’s facinating Microhinge concept finally makes its comeback.

Diversifying the Odyssey line-up alongside the softer White Hot insert — which is currently holding sway in the Odyssey Ai-ONE line-up — the new Microhinge putter collection offers forward-rolling fun in six classic and slightly nostalgic head shapes.

THE MICROHINGE INSERT

Microhinges made their debut in the now dormant Odyssey O-Works range before morphing into a Microhinge/White Hot hybrid insert that appeared throughout the Odyssey range.

Now it returns in its purest form, with Odyssey reviving the original Microhinge design. But what is a Microhinge and how’s it work? We’re glad you asked…

Hundreds of tiny L-shaped stainless-steel plates, known as Microhinges, are embedded in a synthetic face insert. When they make contact with the ball at impact, the plates deflect slightly before springing back and pushing the ball off the face to promote an end-over-end forward roll.

It may seem like simple science but it has a significant impact. It negates side spin and the dreaded back spin, and the pure roll gets putts tracking on the intended target line sooner.

Given the difference between making or missing a putt is often less than half a degree at impact, Odyssey’s Microhinge concept stacks up, while also offering a solid feel and sound.

ODYSSEY MICROHINGE PUTTER MODELS

The new Odyssey Microhinge line-up features six classic Odyssey head shapes. The entire line-up is installed with an Odyssey Pistol Grip and stepless steel shaft and features Odyssey’s Versa high-contrast alignment system.

ODYSSEY MICROHINGE #1

The compact, sleek, Anser-style Odyssey Microhinge #1 blade will certainly have its admirers. Rounded bumpers soften the exterior and a plumber’s neck, or crank hosel, with a full shaft offset generates 43° of toe hang to suit an arcing stroke.

ODYSSEY MICROHINGE DOUBLE WIDE

The oversized profile of the Odyssey Microhinge Double Wide boosts the stability and forgiveness of the popular blade putter. A double bend shaft with three-quarter offset offers moderate toe hang performance (20°).

ODYSSEY MICROHINGE V-LINE 2-BALL

The 2-Ball is an iconic Odyssey mallet and it’s reprised in the new Microhinge range in V-Line spec. Face balanced via a double bend, three-quarter offset shaft, the Microhinge V-Line 2-Ball is an excellent match for a no-arc putting stroke.

ODYSSEY MICROHINGE MARXMAN FANG

The Odyssey Microhinge Marxman Fang is a full-sized, high-MOI modern mallet. Its distinctive perimeter weighted design is complemented by a bold Versa alignment system running from front to back. A double bend shaft with a three quarter shaft offset combine to generate face balanced characteristics.

ODYSSEY MICROHINGE #7 SLANT HOSEL

The legendary Odyssey Microhinge #7S is a classic mallet. With its signature rear fangs enhancing stability, the slant hosel and a half shaft of offset promote a significant toe hang (37°) to match a severely arcing putting stroke.

ODYSSEY MICROHINGE #7 DOUBLE BEND SHAFT

The legendary Odyssey Microhinge #7DB is a classic mallet. With its signature rear fangs enhancing stability, the double bend shaft and three-quarter shaft offset promotes face balanced characteristics that will suit a straight back and through putting stroke.
