When the gurus at Odyssey identified a common right-miss with high MOI mallets, they took an inquisitive look into it. They discovered that extreme rear weighting was the culprit, in what was a slightly counterintuitive breakthrough. Let us explain.
With weight shifted so far back on most high-MOI putters, the putter head remains extremely stable - which is normally a great thing. Until it’s not. However, the new Odyssey Eleven putters in 2022 have unlocked the answer.
Odyssey determined that the rearward CG was so stable on high-MOI mallets it made it difficult for golfers to rotate the head square at impact – the cause of so many putts missed right.
But by moving the CG forward on the Odyssey Eleven putter, it maintains the ideal balance between perimeter-weighted stability and a more neutral CG that actively assists in squaring the face at impact (which is more akin to the responsiveness of a blade putter).
