Wilson Infinite Wedges

A wise golfer once said: “If you currently play game improvement irons you should probably be playing game improvement wedges too”.

It makes perfect sense. After all, can you expect a golfer who plays huge-headed game improvement irons infused with forgiveness to suddenly acquire the requisite skill to play a traditional tour-spec, blade wedge when they’re near the green?

We wouldn’t have thought so either...

That was the rationale that prompted Wilson to develop their new Infinite wedge, a cavity-back design that promises game-improvement levels of forgiveness.

Infinite wedges aren’t made for golfers who seek creativity and versatility around the greens. They will, however, help you find more greens with the shots you play the most. And they won’t break the bank, either.

WILSON INFINITE WEDGES: GAME ON

You’ve probably heard of Wilson’s Infinite putter range. It’s a line-up of cast putters that aren’t overly complicated nor cutting-edge. But they offer decent enough performance at a very moderate price point.

Infinite putters were a big win for Wilson and the new Wilson Infinite wedge series is an extension of the same idea. They are cast, budget-friendly wedges that are the antithesis of Wilson’s forged, tour-spec ZM blade wedges.

The bigger footprint and cavity-back design provides Infinite wedges with game-improvement levels of forgiveness that makes them a much easier option for mid-to-high handicappers.

Much like a cavity-back iron, the extra weight spread to the perimeter of the head increases the stability of the Infinite wedge. It also shifts the centre of gravity lower to create an effortlessly high launch. The upper portion of the wedge is also noticeably thinner, lowering the centre of gravity further to promote a higher launch.

The rear cavity of Wilson’s new Infinite wedge is also installed with a TPU insert. It gives the appearance of a muscleback blade but further contributes to the wedge’s forgiveness by pushing mass to the outer extremities of the club head. The TPU insert also improves feel by minimising vibration and creates a better sound at impact.

WILSON INFINTE WEDGES: CHUNK-PREVENTION SOLE

The bottom of the Infinite wedge features a wide sole, in keeping with Wilson’s forgiveness-first design mantra for the new wedge line.

It’s wide enough to prevent chunked wedge shots and helps the wedge move efficiently through the turf with plenty of forgiveness.

While Wilson Infinite wedges are aimed at less-skilled golfers with higher handicaps, they don’t feature a heap of offset. It provides an appearance that many golfers, regardless of handicap, will prefer.

PVD FINISH

Wilson have turned to a PVD coating to finish off their Infinite wedges.

Officially called black-onyx, the PVD coating isn’t as durable as other premium vacuum-applied coatings. But at the same time, it won’t disappear after taking your first swipe out of a bunker filled with coarse sand.

WILSON INFINITE WEDGES: LOFTS AND BOUNCE

Wilson opted for just four Infinite wedge models, removing the complexity often associated with selecting a wedge.

There are four lofts available: 48°, 52°, 56°, 60°. Each one features a high bounce sole (12° and 10° for the 48° model). The stock shaft is a lightweight KBS Tour 105g.
