PING G440 Drivers, Fairways and Hybrids (2025)

PING tend to go quietly about their business leading up to a new release, but every launch never fails to surprise. Case in point: the new PING G440 family. The G440 range is the latest generation of PING’s flagship G series drivers, fairway woods, hybrids and irons.

To be honest, the PING G440 line-up won’t be the glitziest or sexiest release of 2025. But that’s not how PING roll. PING’s unwavering commitment to only releasing new clubs that significantly outperform their predecessors means the entire G440 range is guaranteed to be very good indeed.

PING G440 DRIVERS

If you have been paying attention to past PING releases, the G440 driver line-up should feel rather familiar.

The three models — MAX, LST, SFT — offer something for everyone. The MAX is designed for the largest segment of the golfing pie; the LST features Low Spin Technology; and the SFT is the slice-correcting, draw-biased model.

For the best part of a decade now, PING’s driver design ethos has largely revolved around forgiveness. Or more specifically, speed gains should never come at the cost of diminished forgiveness.

PING’s MAX 10K model in the previous G430 range was the first in the game to crash through the 10,000 MOI barrier. With an effort like that, it’s clear to see PING’s wholehearted commitment to winning the forgiveness arms race.

Thus, much of the technology in the G430 range carries through to all three PING G440 drivers. However, there are a few areas PING have leveraged to improve both performance and, you guessed it, forgiveness.

THE GREAT PING G440 WEIGHT PURGE

It wouldn’t be too far off the mark to imagine that PING’s working title for the new G440 driver range was Lite ‘n Easy.

Shedding weight and moving it to more beneficial areas is Driver Design 101. But PING have taken extreme measures to drive the centre of gravity of the G440 driver range deeper and lower to boost distance, accuracy and forgiveness off the tee.

In the previous PING G430 driver range, only the LST and MAX 10K drivers featured PING’s CarbonFly Wrap crown. The G430 MAX and SFT drivers featured a titanium crown.

In the new G440 driver range, CarbonFly is standard across every model. The lightweight carbon fibre crown extends into the toe, allowing PING to save weight up top.

The weight purge continues in the G440’s hosel, with a few grams of weight shaved the middle section then repackaged lower and deeper in the head and sole of the G440 driver.

PING have also deleted the sliding weight track system that featured in the G430 in favour of fixed weighting positions. Weight tracks require significant support structures within the driver head which adds weight. Fixed weighting slots do not, which saves a few critical grams of mass.

The G440 MAX and LST models feature a 29g back weight that can be screwed into a neutral, draw, or fade slot. The draw biased SFT offers two options: Draw or Draw+.

All up, PING G440 drivers are 10g lighter.

A LOWER, THINNER, HOTTER FACE

PING G440 drivers feature a marginally lower face height compared to the G430 line-up. But before you get too alarmed, there’s an extremely good reason for the move.

PING were able to make the driver face thinner and hotter in the lower face height, delivering more ball speed across the width of the face — even in the high heel section where tee shots normally go to die. It’s an upgrade of PING’s Spinsistency technology, which evens out spin rates across the face.

PING G440 DRIVER MODELS

PING G440 drivers now feature a blue colourway, ending PING’s dalliance with neon yellow in the G430 range. PING’s adjustable hosel is also standard across all three driver models and offers a 3° range of loft tuning.

PING G440 MAX DRIVER

The most forgiving model in the G440 driver line-up, the MAX should suit a large percentage of golfers. It features a 29g back weight that can be stationed in three positions to produce a neutral, fade or draw-biased ball flight. Lofts: 9°, 10.5°, 12°

PING G440 LST DRIVER

The G440 LST driver is aimed at players with faster swing speeds. It features a slightly smaller head shape (450cc) and is designed to reduce spin off the face. The LST also features a 29g rear weight that can be set for a neutral ball flight or a fade or draw bias. Lofts:10.5°, 12°

PING G440 SFT DRIVER

An inherent draw-biased design makes the PING G440 SFT driver a slice slayer. A 23g rear weight can be positioned in a Draw and Draw+ slot, which can produce 13 and 20 yards of slice correction, respectively. Lofts:10.5°, 12°

PING G440 DRIVER SHAFTS

PING’s stock Alta CB Blue counterbalanced shaft is offered in a longer standard length (46”),  to boost club head speed and distance while maintaining tight shot dispersion. Other standard shafts offered in the PING G440 range are 45.5” in length.

PING G440 FAIRWAY WOODS

The new PING G440 fairway wood line-up mirrors the driver range, with MAX, LST and SFT models offering distinct performance bands.

Just like the drivers, forgiveness is a clear objective in PING’s G440 fairways — although that’s not to say speed, spin and launch aren’t also a priority. G440 fairway woods feature a handful of improvements and tweaks designed to deliver confidence and consistency off the deck and from the tee.

DRIVER MINI ME

Aside from the identical model names, PING G440 fairway woods share many key elements with G440 drivers.

All three G440 fairway models feature a CarbonFly Wrap crown and slimmed down hosel. Those attributes saved 11.5g of weight, which PING has put to good use.

The face of the G440 fairways is four per cent taller than their G430 forerunners and has been thinned around the heel and toe to create more consistent ball speed across the G440 fairway face. But even with the taller face, PING managed to lower the centre of gravity — a masterstroke to boost MOI and forgiveness.

It creates a confidence-inspiring appearance and effortless, high-launching fairway woods.

Meanwhile, a new sole profile features across all three G440 fairway wood models. It encourages the club head to naturally sit more flush with the ground, regardless of the loft or lie angle selected via PING’s Trajectory Tuning 2.0 adjustable hosel that features throughout the G440 fairway range.

PING G440 FAIRWAY WOOD MODELS

PING G440 MAX FAIRWAY WOOD

The MAX is the all-purpose fairway wood in the G440 release. It offers a blend of distance and forgiveness and features the highest MOI of the three models. The G440 MAX also includes a new 4 wood loft. Lofts: 3W: 15°, 4W:17°, 5W:19°, 7W:21°, 9W:24°

PING G440 LST FAIRWAY WOOD

The LST is PING’s multi-material fairway wood. A new high-strength titanium face (HST) is paired with a lightweight titanium body (Ti811). An 85g tungsten sole plate features on the bottom of the club while on the top is a CarbonFly crown. It offers extreme low-spinning distance for faster swing speeds. Lofts: 3W:15°, 5W: 19°

PING G440 SFT FAIRWAY WOOD

Slice relief is the SFT’s objective, with a draw-biased design helping to square up the face at impact. The G440 SFT fairway is also the go-to club for players with slower swing speeds. Lofts: 3W: 16°, 5W: 19°, 7W:22°

PING G440 HYBRIDS

The drive for weight savings in the PING G440 family trickles through to the new PING G440 hybrids. The hosel, screw and heel section has been reworked to save 4g which, in conjunction with PING’s CarbonFly crown, enabled PING to lower the CG of the hybrids by an incredible 12 per cent. It promotes a higher launch which also ties in with the G440 hybrids’ lower face height.

PING are confident it will allow golfers to catch the ball higher on the face to launch the ball higher and improve stopping power — without impacting ball speed. PING G440 hybrids all feature PING’s adjustable hosel and the same contoured sole as G440 fairway woods.

PING G440 HYBRIDS

With six lofts to choose from, the G440 hybrid range is extremely versatile. The 2 Hybrid is fade biased to suit tee-ball performance while the higher lofted hybrids are draw biased to maximise distance. PING hybrids will suit any skill level and targeted loft gapping will plug any distance gap.
